It started with an invitation for the governor of Kericho County Prof Chepkwonny to go and see trading at the world renown New Spitalfield market where SACOMA fresh produce wholesalers operate. The tour of the market was an eye opener for the Governor on the opportunities it present to farmers in his county. Kericho is well known for production of coffee and Tea but the governor confirmed that pineapples, sweet potatoes, sugarcanes , french beans, traditional herbs, chillies among other needed fresh produce in the UK can be bulk produced by farmers association in his county.

After touring London oldest market, He did not mince his words, neither did he waste time to make a commitment to partner with SACOMA, after further consultation and feasibility arrangements have been laid down, but as for him it's a matter of urgency to find market and business for his county members. A seat down meeting with all SACOMA partners at their office where discussions took place of the possible trading partnership. It was a long meeting that yielded a MOU on possible working terms. This deliberations were agreed upon and the governor was invited to Brilliant restaurant, the restaurant that have committed to spearhead introduction of Kenya sweet potatoes to asians main restaurant in UK. The hotel that served Prince Charles Sweet potatoes was serving the same to the governor of Kericho, an hour before MOU was signed between SACOMA and the governor.

SACOMA leadership is scheduled to visit Kericho town on 5th of september to further develop the initiative. It's a win win situation for the county and for the fresh produce wholesaler. Small holder farmers who never get an opportunity to export their produce will now have a chance, making Kericho an economy driven by the people of Kericho while SACOMA will be provided with quality and quantity of produce to feed the demands in London.
